Getting started with DBL Optimizer
From an empty slot to a detailed breakdown: every part of the optimizer explained, in the order you use it.
Before you start
DBL Optimizer is free and needs no account. Everything is calculated in your browser, instantly. One thing to know: your team is not saved. If you reload the page, the lineup starts from scratch — only your language and game mode are remembered.
The database currently holds 500 characters and 923 pieces of equipment, updated on September 20, 2026. Character, equipment and tag names are shown as they appear in the source database, which is in French.
1. Choose the game mode
The floating switch at the bottom of the screen toggles between two modes:
- Classic — a Main team of 3 characters and a Bench of 3.
- Proud — two equally important trios, Trio A and Trio B, plus a Trio C for the match that breaks a tie (see the Proud mode guide).
The mode doesn’t change Z Ability or equipment calculations: it renames the two trios and adds the Trio C analysis.
2. Add characters
Click a “Click to add” slot. The selection window shows every card with its artwork, name and color. You can:
- search by name, card code (for example DBL99-01L) or tag;
- filter by rarity and color.
Characters already in your team are greyed out. On a placed card, ✎ swaps the character and ✕ removes it; either way, its equipment is removed too.
3. Pick your Leader
The ★ star under each card sets the Leader. It matters a lot in the calculation: the Leader receives every Z Ability in the team unconditionally, and their own Z Ability applies unconditionally to their two trio teammates. The “Disable leader” button at the bottom of the panel lets you compare with a team without this privilege. Details are in the Z Abilities guide.
4. Set Z Abilities and equipment
On desktop, hover a card: a panel unfolds to its right. On phones and tablets, these settings sit under each card.
- Z Ability — pick the level you unlocked: I, II, III or IV. The Zenkai Z Ability, if the character has one, is counted at its maximum.
- Equipment — three slots. Each slot opens the equipment list with the “Compatible” filter on by default, so you only see equipment this character can wear. Equipment restricted to one specific card (many Platinum pieces) only shows up for that card.
- “View details” opens the full sheet of a piece of equipment: every line, its values and its conditions.
- “OR” lines — some equipment rolls one of two stats at random. Pick the one you got so the calculation matches your real equipment.
5. Read tags and conditions
Under the cards, the “Team tags” table shows who carries which tag: one column per character, a dot under each carrier and the total on the right. Shared tags come first; tags carried by a single character are folded behind a button.
The “Team Composition” panel then lists every equipment effect that depends on a tag. For each one it shows the wearer, the bonus, the rule (“3 in their trio”, “per trio member”) and a status:
- Active — the condition is met;
- N missing — the trio lacks N characters with that tag;
- × N — the bonus is multiplied by the number of matching members.
The “Simulate” field forces a number of carriers so you can test an effect without changing the team. That line is then marked “(simulated)”, and every summary takes it into account.
6. Analyze the results
- Global summary (Z Abilities) — the total Z Ability bonuses received by the whole team, with a per-stat chart.
- Uncalculated Effects — passives that can’t be quantified and effects whose condition isn’t met, so nothing gets overlooked.
- Targeted character — choose the character to analyze in detail.
- Global summary (Z Abilities + items) — their all-in bonuses, with the Cumulated Effects Summary stat by stat (equipment share, Z Ability share and final multiplier).
- Z Ability Tree — how their Z Ability reaches each teammate: a green arrow if everything applies, yellow if only part of it does, red if nothing does.
7. In Proud mode: check your Trio C
In Proud mode, a “TRIO C” box appears under each character. Select 2 characters from one trio and 1 from the other: the Trio C analysis then compares their bonuses with their original trio, lists what is lost or gained and suggests the best possible Trio C. The Proud mode guide explains how to read it.
Tips
- Start with tags. A team whose characters share many tags triggers more conditional Z Abilities and equipment.
- Watch for “1 missing”. A single character swap often unlocks several effects at once.
- Try two Leaders. Totals can change a lot: compare the summaries before deciding.
- Read the Z Ability tree. A red arrow means a Z Ability is wasted on that teammate.
